Once upon a time in Bangladesh

“Bhai,” that’s Bangla for brother. First time I heard it, I’m thinking, “Okay, Jakkir’s got this unique name,” so I slap a “bhai” next to it in my contacts. Turns out, it’s the local way of throwing around camaraderie. Jubair bhai, Jakkir bhai, Julal bhai, Jabbir bhai — Alberto bhai. Here’s the deal — it’s a country where brotherhood is the gospel. People strolling down the road hand in hand, giving bear hugs like it’s the cure for everything. Friendship, just folks savouring the sheer joy of being in each other’s company. Ten days that felt like forever, nights shorter than my patience, covering hundreds of miles by sea, air, and land. Smiles, laughter, a sprinkle of tears. And food. A feast. A carnival of flavours. Bangladesh, you’re a revelation. A place that schooled me in the art of now. And the people? Pure gold. Hardworking, loving, warm, and spiritual. You’re giving it all without the applause you deserve.
